How to Safely Carry Your Camera
ON JANUARY – 2 – 2017
If you’re a DSLR camera user, there’s a simple and quick tip to protect your lens and camera, especially when you’re using a telephoto lens attached to your camera body. Do pay attention to the way you carry your camera on your shoulder. Pay close attention to the two images below and note the difference between the two. On the image to the left, the ends of the lens is facing outward. Now note how the image to the right shows the person carrying the camera with the lens facing inwards towards the person. By carrying the camera as shown on the image on the right, you’ll further protect the lens from any impact. If you carry your camera facing outward like the image on the left, there’s a high chance the lens will run into surfaces you might come into close contact with. Sure, if you carry it facing inwards, your camera body is more vulnerable to impact but if compared, the camera body has the lower chance of malfunction than the lens because a lens has glass elements that are fragile. Also, any tiny alteration of the optic element in the lens can lead to the decrease of your lens’ sharpness. Additionally, any impact to the lens would also add a risk of it having an effect on the lens mount of the camera body. Ok, hope this helps!
